100 Words

I have quite a clear end product in mind for the animation and feeling of my movie. I have already found my music, a song called the Great Escape by New Zealand band Farah Loux, and I know them so they have given me permission to use the song in my work. I want my movie to be one of exploration and discovery, I want it to be exciting. The idea of the guiding light is one that reminded me of an excerpt from a book which I will post when I find the passage. I want the tone of the movie to reflect wonder and curiosity and I think the song I have chosen compliments that idea well. I also have a very definite beginning middle and end.

CryEngine Development

Saving

Unfortunately there were some unexpected issues saving my model so I had to reimport it from SketchUp. This is ok  however, because I had to review my texture choice anyway. The textures I chose are clean and simple. I think its nice just to let the model speak for itself and not have an overpowering texture. I also want something that is clean and simple to animate and play with in CryEngine. That will be the next step. The angular structure is plain white, the cage has a light concrete texture and the cube is a cloudy glass.

Alternate Views of Interim Model

Model Draw Up

I revised my model movement after my Interim presentation. I decided to reconsider my initial animation, instead I want to make the light box smaller and more deliberate so the camera follows the box and it lights the way to discover it.

Interim Images

These are the images that I selected for my Interim presentation. The feed back I got back from my tutor about my models was very relevant and I agree 100%. She referenced that the wood textures, while originally I liked them, are not working on this scale and in this light. At the beginning I thought of my model in relation to one of those 3D wooden puzzles that the viewer explores and discovers. On second thought the wood is overpowering and also not of the best quality for the size. I am now thinking that It would be better for a smoother texture. Im considering a porcelain, metallic or glassy material, however, I am still a bit undecided as I want it to be simple but not dimensionless.
