Final Movie!!!!!

Facets

I chose the name 'Facets' as a reference to the main angular structure. To me the term facet is more palatable than something like 'angles' or 'corners' or something, they have sharper connotations. What I wanted to portray in my film was a sense of child like adventure and wonder, I think the music was a huge part of creating this environment and also the twinkly, almost wondrous and surreal quality of the light boxes. Also the mysteriousness of the location and context creates the illusion of discovery. Now tat my movie is finally done, I am very happy with the final and I like the development I have had from my original storyboards. I have learned through this paper that you have to take all problems in your stride and make them work and that if you embrace trials you get to understand the programs better and your work develops as a result.

Directions to Cry file

Because I had to trial so many different CryEngine I ended up creating several different files to make it work. So its a bit of a process to get to my final Cry file. First;
1. Enter '134_Francis4'
2. Enter 'Objects' folder
3. Enter 'trial. Again'

iMovie trial

Filming

So I had done all of my filming and put my music in and added my transitions... however, when it came to saving in high def the files would not save. I am now looking at doing it through Quicktime player and Final Cut Express. It is all very stressful and confusing especially when my movie was exactly how I wanted it and now I have to start again. I am hoping that this idea will work though and all of my issues will be revolved.

Animation Flowgraph

This is an example of one of my flow graphs, some of them are rotating as well and this has been multiplied to incorporate many light boxes.

Possible Frames for Final

potential ideas for the final three frames to be presented.

CryEngine Animation

Yay! My model is finally saving correctly so I have started my animation at last! It has changed again, in working it out in CryEngine I have decided that my conceptual idea isn't effective enough visually so I have cloned all of the boxes to make it more twinkly and shooting starry.

It Is Saved!!!

My model has finally saved!!!

New Model in CryEngine

Animation and Flow Graphs

First trials with animating. Still pretty basic and I'm a bit worried about time, I only have a week to do all of my animation because of the issues in my model. I have also changed my music to a composition that my brother did. So still legal to use.

Revised SketchUp Model

I am much happier with this model, its been a grueling journey but I am pleased with the result and I think it will be really interesting to explore and animate. I have also multiplied the light boxes so it will be more interesting.

Revised model

Due to issues with saving my model I have re done my model in sketch up. To do this I have reverted to my original model which is more wide angles as opposed to sharp exaggerated angles so it is of tidier construction and hopefully translates better. I have also revised my animation concept.

Beach Balls

I have been having consistent issues with the translation from SketchUp into CryEngine, I have had to redo my model in cry engine so many times and have tweaked my SketchUp model too. It works fine when I'm on it, however, when I reopen it it beach balls. I think it it the construction of my model in sketch up so i have decide to remake it and be meticulous about construction and faces.

100 Words

I have quite a clear end product in mind for the animation and feeling of my movie. I have already found my music, a song called the Great Escape by New Zealand band Farah Loux, and I know them so they have given me permission to use the song in my work. I want my movie to be one of exploration and discovery, I want it to be exciting. The idea of the guiding light is one that reminded me of an excerpt from a book which I will post when I find the passage. I want the tone of the movie to reflect wonder and curiosity and I think the song I have chosen compliments that idea well. I also have a very definite beginning middle and end.
