Initial CryEngine Screen Shots

I found CryEngine terrifying and intimidating as someone with very limited experience in digital design, however, it has so many possibilities and is such an amazing program. I am looking forward to when i understand it and am not scared of it so I can enjoy and explore what it has to offer and how it can make me look good :)

Lab 2 week 7

After discussion with Mercia about my final concept for animation in regard to my CryEngine model I was advised to simplify my idea to make the transition to the CryEngine  program more straight forward. We discussed retaining all elements of my model but only having to animate one rather than two sets. Instead of having the narrow boxes moving, I will try and construct some form of structure around the main angular structure that has reference to their original form. If I do this, it will create another element of exploration which is what I want to show in my movie, exploring structure and space. I could then have the final box as a light box that guides the viewer through windows i the exterior structure to discover the facets of the internal one. Having a light form will also exaggerate the interesting angles of the internal structure.

Chosen Sketch - rhythm/repetition

               150 pixel/inch
I see this as the biggest faceted block with very exaggerated angles that can be explored in the video, then the series of rectangles are animated and moving but within a certain space, lastly the box which pretty much has free reign to move all over the place and has an interesting route that allows the viewer to see the model from interesting angles. This is the initial idea at least.

Week 6 Independent Exploration

                                                                      DATUM? 150 pixel/inch

                                                           RHYTHM/REPETITION 150 pixel/inch

Week 6: initial designs

150 pixels/inch
I think image 2 has potential to be an interesting form when movement is added. Although it seems fairly predictable as it is already more or less in a propeller shape so there is quite a blatant aspect to this design. I could revisit it but I'm not really excited about this model or any of the other ones so far for my chosen design principle. I am thinking of choosing a new one where I am more excited about my concepts.
